Groupon, the deal-of-the-day website recently launched it’s newest mobile application Groupon Now! generating buzz over this new way to eat and shop, at a discounted price too.
Groupon Now! sets itself apart by offering daily deals on your phone that local merchants themselves can schedule. The familiar Groupon deals (ex: $10 coupon for $20 worth of food) will still be there but they wont be one-time offers as local merchants can choose when these deals can be available. The deals will be able to be bought directly within the mobile application, and the fact that they can be redeemed instantly by the merchant sets Groupon Now! apart.
This system is particularly effective especially for businesses because it gives merchants the ability to offer discounted deals on a slow day to attract customers. And customers there are, Groupon is one of the fastest growing companies in history and recently partnered with Foursquare.com where the deals now show up on its Explore tab.
The partnership between Groupon and Foursquare is only natural as customers will keep using Foursquare to find things to do and use Groupon Now! to do so at a discounted price. The app already has a large customer-base and will only grow moving forward as local businesses now have an easier way to reach out to their customers and prevent slow days.
The app simply shows two buttons for “I’m hungry” and “I’m bored.” Clicking either will offer time-specific daily deals for food or entertainment, based on the user’s location. Groupon Now! is already available in more than 25 cities in the U.S. and Groupon will keep its focus on their mobile strategy hoping that this system will set a new trend and grow like it should.
