How Much Time Should You Spend on Social Media Efforts?

“Social Media” has become a buzzword phrase in recent years.  Business owners know they need it, but do they really know how or where to start. Good news! The IMI Intern team is here to help. They have broken down the steps you must take to make the most out of your business’s social media accounts.

Step 1:

Pick one or two social media platforms to thoroughly familiarize yourself with first. When selecting a platform, think about which ones your customers use most.

For example, if your product or service is highly visual, consider starting with Instagram or Pinterest to best reach your customers. Key lesson here, always remember who your audience is.

Step 2:

Once you have your platforms selected and accounts created, you might be wondering, how do I decide how much time to spend brainstorming post ideas, searching for new followers, and responding to users?  Also, how much time should be spent on social media per day? Per week? What if you only have 30 minutes to dedicate? This is a question of time management.

The infographic below will answer your questions. Social media tasks can be broken up into content, community, and growth.  See the recommendations for daily and weekly time distribution recommendations to better understand how to utilize those crucial 30 or 60 minute windows you have throughout the day to optimize your social media efforts.
