Instagram is the hottest new social platform for finding social influencers. If you aren’t using this platform, you should be. It’s very visual, and is growing at an exponential rate. Most brands now days won’t use brand ambassadors who don’t have an Instagram presence, and that is exactly why you should be on it, looking for your next group of influencers!
The #1 way of finding influencers is to search relevant #hashtags. Let’s say your brand is in the health food industry. You can start by searching #healthyfood or #fitfood.
Then a whole bunch of photos pop up. Click on ones that you like.
And see who the user is.
You can then see what other kinds of photos they take, if this person resonates with your brand, how many followers they have, and if they also are a blogger or have a website, or an email address for you to get in touch with them. This is becoming so popular, that if your brand is highly visual, it may not even matter if the user is a blogger or not. They might just be an Instagram ambassador for your brand.
Twitter is a great place to find influencers, as it’s been around for quite some time, and most bloggers use Twitter to share their blog posts. Go to the search bar in Twitter and type in the relevant #hashtag you want to search, we’ll stick with #fitfood.
Then a timeline of tweets will show up that use #fitfood.
You can then scroll through and find influencers that match with your brand. Click on each users profile, and learn more about them. If they have a blog in their profile, check it out. This is a great way to find relevant bloggers. Maybe you are looking for bloggers in a particular area of the country, most users will have where they are from/live in their Twitter profile. This is a great way to narrow down your list, as you are searching. They may also have their contact information, so that you can reach out to them via email, if not a Direct Message works well too.
Although using #hashtags on Facebook is still new, sharing photos from Instagram is not, and therefore it’s easier to find influencers than you would think. The same process applies to Facebook that we use for Instagram and Twitter. Type into the search bar your relevant #hashtag, in this case #fitfood, and then both posts from people and pages will show up.
You can go ahead and click on their profile or page, and learn more about them, and see if this person would make a good fit as a brand ambassador for your company.
