Scented Display Banners Get Higher Click Through Rates!

This is a very interesting case study video from Brazilian Ad Agency TBWA.  Their client sells the leading mens fragrance in Brazil and needed to announce a significant brand change through an online campaign, but had many limitations.  They could not show the new fragrance online!  The target audience in working class men so TBWA created a partnership with 15 Internet cafes across Brazil where men without computers at home surf the web.  They then created a display banner to run at the top of the home screen on all the computers.  They also created a custom hardware that would produce scented fragrance strips.  when you click the display banner on the screen, the scented strip comes out of the side of the monitor!  The result was a 17% click through rate and 10,000 scented strips distributed in one weekend!  Amazing.
